December Appeal: Tony’s Story
Direct-mail appeal written to donors in December 2022, for Shepherd’s Table. The appeal highlights the story of Tony, a longtime client and friend of the organization.
No Place to Rest: Gender-Based Violence and Homelessness
Written as an opinion editorial on behalf of Shepherd’s Table, this unpublished personal essay served to highlight the intersection between gender-based violence and homelessness and advocate for the reauthorization of VAWA in February, 2022 (the reauthorization fortunately took place on March 16th, 2022).
Blog Post: Anthony’s Story
Shepherd’s Table works to improve quality of life and create a pathway to self-sufficiency for the most vulnerable in Montgomery County, Maryland. This essay highlights the story of a client named Anthony and situates his experience within the larger scope of issues Shepherd’s Table seeks to address.

Profiling Abdoul, a Shepherd’s Table client, this piece details Abdoul’s specific life experiences and in doing so, highlights common themes in the lives of Shepherd’s Table clients.
Blog Post: Urban Garden Update
As Shepherd’s Table addresses food insecurity through daily meal service, the quality and nutritional value of the meals are a top priority. By starting an urban garden, the organization is able to grow fresh produce for guests and plans to eventually build out relevant programing to teach gardening to clients.

Written for International Justice Mission, the article highlights IJM Uganda staff member, Phionah Birguni. The post details her personal journey to IJM and gives the reader a glimpse into the incredible work Birguni has accomplished.
IJM Survivor Story: Cyril*
International Justice Mission produces internal story packages that detail the violence, rescue, and healing our clients experience. Story packages, like this deliverable, are then adapted to both long and short form copy for IJM’s social media, newletters, speeches, and conversations with current and potential donors. I wrote this story based on interviews IJM Ghana staff conducted with Cyril* (*pseudonym).
